The Latvia for Youth: Language, Community Engagement & Culture Program (details at https://sras.org/youth) is a pre-collegiate summer program designed for high school students that integrates Russian language study with structured volunteering and service learning. The program supports learners across a range of experience levels, including students just beginning Russian, and emphasizes meaningful community engagement alongside language development.

In addition to language instruction, participating students gain:

• Service-learning experience in real-world contexts using Russian

• Opportunities to develop cross-cultural communication skills valued by college admissions

• Experiences that can strengthen college applications and personal statements

We believe this opportunity aligns well with the mission of language educators and associations dedicated to expanding access to language learning and promoting global competence among young learners.
