Dear KSWLA Community,
A heartfelt and friendly hello to all the amazing World Language and ESOL teachers across the great state of Kansas! I hope that, if you were able to attend the annual conference in Manhattan, you had an awesome time building connections and learning from one another. If you didn’t make it out to the Little Apple, we look forward to welcoming you next year!
I wish I had been able to attend — the conference always leaves me feeling rejuvenated, and I walk away having learned new tricks, skills, and activities that I can’t wait to try. Of course, spending time with colleagues I’ve gotten to know over the years always recharges my batteries, too.
As we move into the fall season, I would like to take a moment to express my gratitude for the opportunity to serve Kansas language teachers as Vice President. I have previously served as a regional representative, presented several times at past conferences, and twice represented Kansas at Central States as “Best of Kansas.” I am truly looking forward to working with an incredible executive team to continue making KSWLA a strong organization that supports, uplifts, and advocates for teachers across the state. Hopefully, we can expand our efforts to provide even more professional development and opportunities for networking and connection.
I am looking forward to a wonderful year!
Karen Gipson
