Our Keynote Speaker will be Paulino Brener. Mr. Brener is an educator, performer, and social media manager from the Greater Minneapolis/St. Paul, Minnesota area. He is a teacher at University Language Center and online teacher at Verbling.com.  Originally from Argentina, he is now the co-founder and co-owner of Social Media Travelers. With more than 15 years of experience, Mr. Brener has been active in the Concordia Language Villages and the Minnesota Council on the Teaching of Languages and Cultures (MCTLC). He will be delivering a two-part keynote address:

PART 1: “CONNECT AND ENGAGE!”

Paulino will share, show and demonstrate several activities to connect with your students and keep them engaged.  Many activities (but not all of them) will require using a website or a mobile device. You are encouraged to bring your laptop, iPhone and/or android device.

PART 2: “DRAMA GAMES FOR THE WORLD LANGUAGE CLASSROOM”

Many drama games will be demonstrated (with your participation!) and applied to WL teaching. Also, learn a few tricks of the trade to improve role play and small dramatizations. After all: “All the WL classrooms are a stage, and all WL teachers and students merely players.”

RAFFLE & GARAGE SALE AT KSWLA 2013
WE ARE IN DIRE NEED OF any NEW or NEWISH items you might have or be able to acquire for the RAFFLE at the Fall Conference. Remember that these proceeds go to our Scholarship Fund. Please contact Vice President Jan Denning at:  [email protected] if you have any questions!

Also, we  are again having the "Garage Sale", as it was SO popular at last year's conference. If you know any world language teachers who have retired or if you have items that you would like to donate, such as realia, books, teaching tools, etc. we would be MOST appreciative. There are many "new" teachers and just teachers who are looking for something "different" for their classrooms.

PLEASE CONTACT JAN IF YOU HAVE DONATIONS at  [email protected].

If you are in the Salina area, you can bring your items to Jan Denning at 2413 Edgehill, Salina, KS 67401.
OR, if you have a lot and/or bulky items, you can bring them to the conference! Remember...let Jan know!
